Tutorial-Creeper Fighting

All right you maggots, I'm here to teach you all to fight the insidious creepers. Assuming you have a sword (No fistfights with 'em), sprint at 'em (Double-tap W) and hit 'em. Repeat until they're dead. Do not go for close combat. They will explode in your face.

Creepers have 20 health points, same as you (One heart=2 points).

Hits to kill:
Wood/Gold: 10
Stone/Iron: 4
Diamond: 3

Y u no dig pit of death?

If you dig a checkerbord pattern (with the indentations 2-3 blocks deep) immediately around your house, it will trap any mob (excluding spiders). Then when day rolls around, they either burn up or you can easily go kill them.

When Ive done this, I've also used a water system at the bottom of the 'checkerboard' to auto-harvest all the mob drops.

I'm assuming that when you go out you don't immediately dig a pit of death. Dig it three deep, there's a chance it'll jump out when you hit it. This is for use in the field, not for mob farming. BTW, did you try the Skyblock challenge? I did. Never finished it.

ADDING ON:
Dispatch as many creepers as you find with your bow at long range so you don't break your sword.

Now that I have a lower level covering my entire dirt patch, I find out I could have kept the water from freezing and saved my 64 stack of cobblestone? .-.

You'll need a lot more than 64 cobble.
