I got sick and tired of the length of time it takes to mine obsidian, just to find there is lava below it, and I lose the piece. Yeah, wasting those three diamonds you used for this. Crying or Very sad

Prerequisites:
  • 1 - 5 buckets
  • Infinite water pond
  • Stream of Lava
  • Diamond pickaxe

If you have all these things, skip this paragraph.

In case you don't know how to make a bucket, take three iron, and put them into the crafting table in a V pattern. You MUST have easy access to lava, and water. If you don't know how to make an infinite water pond/stream, then get two buckets, and dig a 2x1x2 hole. Put the water in opposite corners. You will see the texture change. If you can't find any lava above land, then go underground. I tend to find lava at the extremely low layers (2-7). Just make the stream something small, nothing to special.

First, you want to make your buckets. One is good, but five is what you should use. Maybe even six buckets, if you want one for insurance against death by fire. Get down to the lower layers for your lava stream. Make your infinite water pond somewhere nearby, but not in contact with lava. Somewhere nearby construct a 2x1x2 "container."

Fill one bucket up with water, and the rest with lava. Put the lava in all four corners of your lava container. In order to make obsidian, you have to make the water get in solid contact with the lava. Look at one of the corners in the container, and place your water. Not above the lava, but in the lava.

Two lava things should turn to obsidian. Mine those, rinse, and repeat. Very Happy

Thanks for reading, and remember to bring lots of dead pig and Moo cow..

Find a massive lava lake, pour water all over it, and LEAVE THE WATER IN PLACE. That was you dun lose any.

By any chance, have you come into any problems with oceans not refilling their infinite water? I built a floating farm, removed it, and now I have a hole in the ocean that is fun to ride a boat down.

It's an ongoing glitch. No idea when it'll be fixed.

But if it's fun to ride a boat down...
Oh, BTW, BC/RP2 pumps do this too.
